GAMELAN: We invite individuals who have music experience to apply to the music program. Once you are in classes, Music Director Dewa Berata will help create study groups that include both beginners and experienced gamelan players. Balinese gamelan provides a challenging and supportive learning environment for all levels of experience and ability. Those with no previous gamelan experience are encouraged to listen to recordings of gamelan to help develop your understanding of the music.
DANCE: The study of dance is open to all dancers regardless of level. Classes are structured in a way that nurtures community and friendship and also allows each person to grow artistically. Beginners will develop a strong understanding of the techniques of male and female dance and experienced Balinese dancers will have an opportunity to expand repertoire and deepen your understanding of the most profound principals of Balinese dance.
